Mosque

Separation of church and state has no meaning here. The mosque on the ground floor is in use all day long. Remember they pray five times a day. It was originally 77 times per day but the profit (oh sorry, prophet) got it reduced to 5. The mosque is quite practical. Otherwise most of the staff would be gone for most of the day traveling back and forth from mosque to hospital. The fountain and garden are accessed through a door marked ‘ladies.’ I have been through to the garden a bunch of times before I noticed the sign. Now I’m a bit more wary but still go if I want. No one else is crazy enough to be out in the hot sun… neither man nor woman. Down in the mosque the men and women pray in separated areas. No one wears shoes (or socks). It’s a great way to share germs.
